A seiche (pronounced saysh) is a standing wave — a quiet, persistent movement that stays within its edges. Often imperceptible to the naked eye, it is neither tide nor current. It occurs when water is set in motion and oscillates, triggered by seismic activity.
This phenomenon grounds a new series by Kal Mansur. Looping, intersecting lines hover within layered fields of color, as if still being drawn. The composition suggests a drifting current, a subtle undertow, or the simple pleasure of a line that keeps moving.
Constructed in plexiglass with painted acrylic elements, each piece continues Mansur’s pursuit of contained radiance: work that appears to power its own light.
