Myta Sayo, Director

Myta Sayo is an art dealer with extensive experience placing works with private collectors, corporate collections, and institutions across North America, Europe, and Asia. From 2015 to 2021, she ran reference: contemporary, exhibiting in multiple New York and Miami art fairs. Between 2021 and 2024, she founded and operated Myta Sayo Gallery in Toronto’s Dundas West neighbourhood. She brings hands-on experience in gallery operations, fair representation, and international placement.

Sayo began her career in contemporary art while completing graduate work in political theory at York University. In 2010 she joined median contemporary in Toronto, drawn to the way artworks give concrete form to complex ideas. She later served as studio manager at Kal Mansur Studio, facilitating the production of commissions for commercial, corporate, and institutional clients worldwide. Past clients include Tiffany & Co., Le Méridien, Fairmont Hotels, and George Brown College.

Through msg*, she develops project-based presentations for art fairs and seasonal exhibitions. She has exhibited at Art Toronto, Pulse New York and Miami, and Volta New York, and has produced twelve in-person exhibitions to date. She has placed works with TD Bank, Global Affairs Canada, Sammarco, and The Postmark Hotel. Her work is defined by close collaboration with artists, clients, and consultants, with an emphasis on stewardship, precise contextual framing, and long-term value. She believes that intent, first built by the artist and carried forward by the collector, is what enables art to endure.
